BLK SCL! CONNEX

A core strategic pillar of BLK SCL! CONNEX is the creation of a sustainable, pan-regional network of Black music professionals across the North of England and the devolved nations of the UK. This network will bring together individuals committed to collective working and long-term systemic change within the music ecosystem.

The data and consultation evidence shows persistent barriers to progression and underrepresentation at senior levels. CONNEX is designed to build regional leadership density and reduce isolation by connecting Black professionals into decision-making pathways, partnerships, and opportunities.

BLK SCL! will facilitate and steward this network. Membership will include (but not be limited to): Black music promoters, A&Rs, talent development leaders, policymakers, creatives, music creators, independent label owners, marketers, managers, and entrepreneurs.

In Year One, BLK SCL! launches its digital directory and networking platform designed to support year-round engagement. This includes a searchable directory enabling private & professional connection. Also in early 2027, the network will convene for the first BLK SCL! Summit — creating space to build meaningful professional connections, share challenges and co-design solutions, transfer knowledge and best practice, and strengthen peer support and collaboration. The BLK SCL! Summit will be part funded by MUSICFUTURES.

In future years, the ambition is BLK SCL! CONNEX will include showcases and panels at key international festivals as well as other impactful export activities.
